When I add an {{image}} to PageA and I use the link parameter to link to
PageB, PageB still has no backlinks (at 'PageB/backlinks'). PageB is
also not removed from {{OrphanedPages}}.

This behavior is due to linktracking being disabled by default in the Action() call.  This is quite possibly a security fix to prevent XSS attacks.
